Oh the trials and tribulations of my blog. (Sigh.) I am so far behind that I'm trying to hard to remember whys of this purchase. Mostly I was going through the work of various actors and actresses looking for movies I've missed. So perusing lesser the works of Wynona Ryder, Gene Wilder, Cate Blanchett, Sean Connery, Irene Dunne, Rene Zellweger, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and Tommy Lee Jones does make for a very strange set of movies to try to analyze. But some of the movies I don't know why I purchased them. I'm still trying to purchase all the James Bond movies and some movies on this lists were ones I must have stumbled into them while I was
looking for something else and decided I needed them for the collection.
MOVIES
Heathers This is almost a cult classic for that Gen X era. Wynona Ryder and Christian Salter get back at the mean girls in high school.
Great Balls of Fire Over the top Bio-pic of Jerry Lee Lewis, but Hey, Jerry Lee Lewis was over the top. Dennis Quaid, Wynona Ryder, Alec Baldwin.
Bram Stoker's Dracula Not my favorite version but it is Coppola directing Gary Oldman, Wynona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves.
Girl Interrupted Wynona Ryder's movie but Angolina Jolie steals the show and gets an Oscar for it.
Enemy Mine Neat little Sci-Fi flick based on the Hugo and Nebula award winning novel with Lou Gossett and Dennis Quaid.
Everbody's All American Jessica Lange, Dennis Quaid, Timothy Hutton, and John Goodman. Dennis and Jessica are the people you wanted to hate in high school but couldn't.
Any Given Sunday Fantastic cast with choppy direction by Oliver Stone. Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, Ann Margret, James Woods and Charlton Heston.
Kelly's Heroes Clint Eastwood and every character actor from the 60's & 70s.
Klute Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland in a murder mystery that won Jane an Oscar.
Space Cowboys. The over-the-hill-gang in outer space with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, and James Garner.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer I must have been looking for Donald Sutherland movies. With Kristy Swanson and Paul Reubens.
Flatliners Superficial script gorgeous people. Keifer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, and Kevin Bacon.
Without a Clue One of those movies I like a lot more than the critics. Its a funny take on Sherlock Holmes with Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley.
Adventure of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother. Gene Wilder directs Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, and Dom DeLuise.
Frisco Kid Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford in the wild west.
Weird Science Crude teen humor from John Hughs but Robert Downey Jr was stealing even back then.
Woman in Red Gene Wilder directs Gene Wilder, Kelly LeBrock, Gilda Radner, Charles Groden in an English Version of the famous French Film Pardon Mon Affaire.
Zelig Woody Allen at his creative best.
Husbands and Wives One of Woody Allen's better recent efforts. Judy Davis and Sydney Pollack are fantastic.
Highlander Sean Connery and Christoper Lambert, in the cult classic.
Marnie One of Hitchcock's most misunderstood films with Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren. It's almost Psycho without murder and blood.
Molly Maguires Richard Harris, Sean Connery and Samantha Eggar in a period piece about union violence in the Pennsylvania coal mines.
Zardoz Camp classic cult film with Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling set in the yer 2293. Is it so bad its good or a tongue and cheek joke?
Anderson Tapes Sidney Lumet directs Sean Connery, Dianne Canon, Alan king, and Christopher Walken in a unique take on the standard caper movie.
Name of the Rose. Sean Connery is a medieval Sherlock Holmes Christian Slater is his acolyte Watson, solving a murder mystery only Dashiel Hammett could understand.
I Remember Mama Irene Dunne's best work and a must see classic.
Dodsworth Unfortunately, one of Hollywood's most overlooked classics. Walter Huston was one of the great actors and this is his finest performance. Directed by William Wyler with Mary Astor and David Niven. Based on the book by Sinclair Lewis.
Our Man Havana Alec Guinness, Burl Ives, Maureen O'hara, Ernie Kovacs in an adaption of the Graham Greene spy novel.
Sabotage an early and good Hitchcock thriller.
It's a Pleasure. Not one of Sonja Henie's better efforts but it's the only one in print.
Nurse Betty Renee Zellweger is nuts and thinks shes a television charactor and Morgan Freeman is a hit man out to get her.
Quest for Fire Rae Dawn Chong and Ron Pearlman are early humans looking for fire. Believe it or not it's funny when it's supposed to be, thrilling and dramatic when it needs to.
White Oleander Michelle Pfeiffer, Renee Zellweger, Robin Wright Penn and Alison Lohman in a highly acclaimed from the best selling novel.
Miss Potter Whimiscal love story based on the life of Beatrix Potter with Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger.
Pushing Tin Uneven attempt to make a mash version of air traffic controllers with John Cuzack, Billy Bob Thorton, Cate Blanchett, and Angelina Joli.
Talented Mr. Ripley an often remade movie this cast incudes Matt Damon Gwynth Paltrow, Jude Law, and Cate Blanchett.
Bandits A caper movie that you will watch just for Bruce Willis Cate Blanchett, and Billy Bob Thrton.
Heaven An international effort about an English teacher in Italy writtten by the Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski with Cate Blanchett as the teacher.
Little Fish Cate Blanchett and Sam Neil in an Australian film about a heroin addict trying to go straight.
Notes on a Scandal Judy Dench is the spinster teacher that befriends a younger teacher played by Cate Blanchett, who has an affair with a student.
Hamlet Kenneth Branagh's version.
Life of David Gale Kevin Spacy is on death row Kate Winslett is the reporter that covers him.
Dark City Kiefer Sutherland Jennifer Connely Ian Richardson, William Hurt in a sci-fi adventure with a mystery and lots of atmosphere.
Die Another Day Pierce Brosnan is 007, North Koreans are the bad guys and Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike are the Bond Girls.
Living Daylights Timothy Dalton is Bond is chasing arms dealers all over the world, Maryam d'Abo is the bond girl and what they do to a cello is criminal.

Liar Liar Standard Jim Carrey fare.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Over the top slapstick is Jim Carreys break out movie.
Mask More Jim Carrey with Cameron Diaz based on the comic it has fantastic effects.
Man on the Moon. Its a bio-pic of Andy Kaufman. Jim Carry does a good job but who could possibly get in the head of Andy Kaufman.
Happy Gilmore Typical Adam Sandler fare with Sandler doing golf.
Mr. Deeds A remake of the Gay Cooper classic. For Adam Sandler fans only.
Waterboy Adam Sandler does football this time with Henry Winkler and Kathy Bates.
Hunted Benecio Del Toro is the out of control assasin and Tommy Lee Jones is the tracker that hunts him down.
Rules of Engagement Middle East turmoil, Marines, Viet Nam flashbacks, courtroom drama, Samuel L Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones.
Man of the House Tommy Lee Jones is a Texas Ranger guarding four Texas Cheerleaders. Nice idea poorly executed.
Cobb Tommy Lee Jones in a fantastic performance as Ty Cobb with Robert Wuhl and Loita Davidovich.
Kiss the Girls Based on the James Patterson Novel with Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross and Ashley Judd.
Where the Heart Is Natalie Judd, Ashley Portman, Stockard Channing, and Sally Field. Great cast with a mish mash of a plot.
