Confused? I know I am. Well, if you like Heavy Metal...Who cares? It's Metal.

Ops! I'm late with posting my January DVD order.

January was a grabbag of various themes. There were some things I'd missed before, some actors I hadn't covered, a whole lot of Chick Flicks were requested, and some things I'm replacing that I just have to have. For instance I recently went went through the films and found these Bruce Willis films I didn't have;

March Music

It's been so long since I've had a chance to blog I'm worried there is no one left out there. Last year I made three large big music buys but that didn't work out very well so this year I'm going back to monthly purchases. With Classical music I'm continuing to build the major repertoire by instrument. I started with Cello and now it's Violin. The following is what Grove Encyclopedia of Music considers the most important works by some some of the more important musicians.

Beethoven Violin Concerto - Isaac Stern Violinist, Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic.
Schubert: Violin Works Gidon Kremer
Beethoven Triple Concerto with Sviatoslav Richter piano, David Oistrakh violin, Mstislav Rostropovich cello
Joshua Bell Edition Vol 3 (he plays four great violin concertos, Tchaikovsky in D Major, Wieniawski no. 2 in D minor, Schumann in D minor, and Brahams in D Major)
Isaac Stern a life in music. (He does the Wieniawski #2, Bruch Concerto no. 1 in G minor, and some smaller works by Tchaikovsky)
Schumann: Sonatas for Violin and Piano 1-3
Prokofiev: Alexander Nevsky Khachaturian Violin Concerto (The Khachaturin was written for Leonid Kogan who performs it.)
Artist of the Century Jascha Heifetz
Shostakovich Violin Concerto no 1 Violin Concerto no. 2 (Shostakovich wrote these for Oistrakh who performs them with the USSR state Symphony.)
Lalo: Symphonie Espagnole; Saint-seans; Ravel
Paganini Violins nos 1&2 Shmuel Askenasi (If you like your violinists to show off. Ashkenasi is a Paganini specialist)
Mendelssohn Violin Sonatas Schlomo Mintz Violin
Schubert Sonatas and Duo for Violin and Piano
Spohr Concerto no. 8, Double Quartet and Beethoven Serenade Op. 8 Jasha Heifetz violin, William Primrose viola, Gregor Piatigorsky cello (I'm impressed.)
Brahams Violin Sonatas
Franck, Strauss: Violin Sonatas
British Composers ; Elgar, Delius Violin Concertos Yehudi Meuhin violin
